BIOGRAPHY

Photograph of Beth & friends by Mary Fournier

A champion of the oil painting genre, it is no surprise that Beth Carlson’s sporting art paintings, foxes and dog portraits are coveted by many animal lovers across the country. Her ability to constantly capture an individual animal’s personality and physical characteristics can be directly attributed to her far-reaching knowledge pertaining to animals in general. Carlson draws on natural surroundings to realistically depict her subjects with the most accurate detail and the most sincere amount of authenticity. “She possesses a conviction of accuracy and authenticity which are both necessary and appreciated by her collectors. This woman is a natural born painter! Her work blends the style of English realism with a taste of French impressionism, a pleasant combination which carries on the warm, traditional look of sporting art,,” said Robert Abbett, the renowned sporting art artist and author, about Carlson’s work in his article about her in The American Brittany magazine (The Lively Art of Beth Carlson, March 2005).

In the relatively short time that Carlson has been painting, her work has gained such notoriety to have graced the covers of a plethora of publications including: Gray’s Sporting Journal, The Field Trial Magazine, The Pointing Dog Journal, The Chronicle of the Horse, The American Brittany magazine and The Charleston Mercury. She is an associate member of Women Artists of the West and Oil Painters of America

She is best known for her sporting dog portraits in landscapes. Two of her paintings are now in permanent possession of The Brittany Hall of Fame in the Bird Dog Museum in Grand Junction, Tenn.

Jaynie Milligan Spector, owner of Dog Art Dealer in Charleston, S.C. which specializes in top quality 21st century dog artists and portraitures, suggests, “Beth Carlson’s paintings have the potential to be a great investment. She is one of the hottest new artists painting dogs. I would suggest buying now!"
